Pune Farmer's Rs 4 Lakh Scooter Boot Heist by Trio Caught on CCTV
In a brazen daylight robbery in Pune, three unidentified men stole Rs 4 lakh from a scooter parked outside a credit cooperative society at Ale Phata on Tuesday afternoon. The incident, captured on CCTV footage, has prompted a police search for the suspects, who executed the theft with alarming speed and precision.
Details of the Swift Theft Operation
A 55-year-old farmer from Vadgaon Anand village in Junnar taluka lodged a formal complaint with the Ale Phata police. According to officers, the farmer had withdrawn Rs 5 lakh from his bank account earlier that morning. He intended to deposit Rs 1 lakh at the credit cooperative society and, in a fateful decision, left the remaining Rs 4 lakh in his scooter's boot before entering the premises.
As soon as he went inside, the trio arrived on two motorcycles. One suspect conducted reconnaissance outside and briefly entered the society to keep watch on the farmer. Meanwhile, the other two approached the scooter, broke open the boot lock within seconds, and stole the cash-filled bag. They fled immediately on their motorcycles, leaving the farmer to discover the broken lock and missing money upon his return.
Police Investigation and Suspected Planning
An officer from Ale Phata police stated, "We suspect they followed him from the bank. We have their motorcycle registration numbers and are working on some clues." The CCTV footage has provided critical evidence, showing the coordinated nature of the theft. Police are analyzing the footage and registration details to track down the suspects, who remain at large.
This incident highlights growing concerns about thefts targeting individuals carrying large sums of cash, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. Authorities urge the public to exercise caution when transporting money and to avoid leaving valuables unattended in vehicles.
