Delivery Agent Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Wife in Pune's Lonikand Area
The Lonikand police in Pune have made a significant arrest in a domestic violence case that ended tragically. On Thursday evening, authorities apprehended Shailendra Vhatkar, a delivery agent residing in Bokori near Wagholi, on charges of stabbing his wife to death.

The incident occurred around 9:30 PM at an open plot in Wadebolhai, where the couple had arranged to meet. According to police reports, Vhatkar and his wife, Namrata, had been experiencing marital discord for some time. Senior inspector Sarjerao Kumbhar of the Lonikand police provided crucial insights into the case.
"Vhatkar, aged 30, and his wife Namrata, who was 20 years old, had been facing domestic issues," Kumbhar stated. "Namrata had left Vhatkar's house approximately two months ago and had been living separately since then."
Argument Turns Deadly
During their meeting on Thursday night, what began as a discussion quickly escalated into a heated argument. Police investigation reveals that the confrontation turned violent when Vhatkar allegedly produced a knife and attacked his wife.
"At the location, Vhatkar pulled out a knife and stabbed her," added Inspector Kumbhar, describing the sequence of events that led to Namrata's death. The police responded promptly to the scene and took Vhatkar into custody, where he now faces serious charges related to the murder.
