Police Help Elderly Woman Get Treatment for Hip Fracture

In a heartwarming display of community service, police officers in Gosaiganj, Lucknow, stepped in to help an elderly woman get the medical treatment she desperately needed. The 80-year-old woman, identified as Kaushalya, approached the local police station seeking assistance after struggling for months with an untreated hip fracture.

Elderly Woman Seeks Police Help After Family Dispute

Kaushalya, wife of Ram Gulam and a resident of Gosaiganj, visited the police station on Tuesday with a formal complaint against her son and daughter-in-law. She told officers that her son, Maha, had taken possession of her jewellery, leaving her without financial resources to pay for medical care.

The elderly woman explained her difficult family situation to police authorities. She has two sons, but neither could provide the support she needed for her medical treatment. Her second son, Rajesh, earns very little income and lacks the financial capacity to help with her healthcare expenses.

Months of Suffering Without Treatment

Kaushalya has been living with a painful hip fracture since April 2025. For several months, the injury remained completely untreated due to her financial limitations and the absence of family support. The elderly woman endured constant pain and mobility issues without access to proper medical attention.

"Considering her condition and adopting a humanitarian approach, the police arranged a private ambulance and sent her to Vidya Hospital in Mohanlalganj for proper medical care," said ADCP (South) Vasanth Rallapalli. "The priority was to ensure timely treatment given her age and prolonged suffering."

Police Take Immediate Action

Upon hearing Kaushalya's story, Gosaiganj police officers took swift action to address her medical emergency. They recognized the urgency of her situation, particularly given her advanced age and the months she had already spent without treatment.

The police department arranged transportation to a medical facility where she could receive appropriate care for her hip fracture. Their intervention ensured that the elderly woman finally received the medical attention she had been denied for so long due to financial constraints.

This incident highlights how police departments sometimes go beyond their traditional law enforcement duties to provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable community members. The Gosaiganj police's compassionate response demonstrates their commitment to serving all citizens, especially those in desperate need of help.
