Night Patrol Team Prevents Major Burglary at Jewellery Shop in Nanded District
In a swift and decisive action, a night patrol team from the Markhel police station successfully foiled a burglary attempt at Achyare Jewellers, located in Hannegaon village of Nanded district, during the early hours of Saturday. The timely intervention led to the arrest of one accused and the recovery of gold and silver jewellery valued at approximately Rs 7.45 lakh.
Alert Police Team Spots Suspicious Activity
The incident unfolded between 3:00 AM and 3:25 AM in the main Sarafa market area. According to authorities, the police team was conducting intensified night patrolling as per the directives of Nanded Superintendent of Police Abinash Kumar. As part of their routine, which included mandatory QR code scanning until 5:00 AM, the team stopped near the shop to scan a code. It was then that they noticed the shutter partially open and observed a man conducting a recce outside the premises.
Sub-inspector Vilas Pawar, who was leading the patrol, immediately directed the police vehicle to the spot. "Sensing the seriousness of the situation, we moved in quickly. Two men came running out of the shop carrying stolen jewellery in a white sack, while another was keeping watch," Pawar recounted.
Chase and Arrest in Dark Fields
Police officers gave chase as the suspects fled through dark fields and bushes. Despite the challenging conditions, they managed to apprehend one of the individuals, identified as Sevaksingh Tilpatte, a resident of Umri in Nanded district. The other accomplices, however, escaped under the cover of darkness.
Additional inspector Ravi Hundekar provided details on the recovered items, stating that silver jewellery weighing 2.6 kilograms, valued at Rs 7 lakh, along with Rs 30,790 in cash and 12 one-gram gold beads worth Rs 15,000, were seized from the arrested accused. "During interrogation, the accused revealed the names of his accomplices. Two special teams have been formed to trace the remaining suspects," Hundekar added.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
An FIR has been registered under sections 305, 331(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused has been remanded to three-day police custody, and further investigation is actively underway to locate the other suspects involved in the burglary attempt.
