Pilibhit Horror: Man Rapes Toddler Niece, Then Hangs Himself

A shocking and tragic incident has unfolded in a village within Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh, where a 25-year-old man allegedly raped his two-and-a-half-year-old niece before taking his own life by hanging. The appalling event occurred on Thursday evening, sending waves of horror through the local community.

Details of the Heinous Crime

The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly lured the toddler to the roof of her house under some pretext while she was playing. The houses of the accused and the victim are adjacent to each other. According to initial reports, the man then sexually assaulted the young girl. As the child cried out in severe pain, the uncle attempted to muffle her screams by playing loud music. Despite this, the girl's parents heard her distressing cries and rushed to the roof.

Upon arrival, they discovered their daughter bleeding profusely. The sight of the parents caused the accused to flee the scene immediately. However, in a grim turn of events, he returned to his home approximately an hour later and hanged himself, ending his own life.

Medical Condition and Legal Action

The survivor was promptly taken to a nearby community health center for urgent medical attention. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was subsequently referred to the district women's hospital for specialized care. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, the Chief Medical Superintendent of the district hospital, provided crucial insights into the victim's condition.

"The victim was bleeding excessively and had a small rupture in her private parts, but her condition is now stable," Dr. Kumar stated. He further explained that the nature of the injuries suggested the assault may have been interrupted. "This indicated that the accused possibly left her for fear of being caught when she screamed soon after the initial rape attempt. Otherwise, the victim would have sustained a severe rupture had she been subjected to complete penetrative sexual assault. This could have posed a threat to her survival," he added, highlighting the potential gravity of the situation.

Following the incident, the victim's father filed a formal written complaint with the authorities. Based on this, a case has been registered under multiple legal provisions. The charges include sections from the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically section 137(2) for kidnapping and section 65(2) for the rape of a woman under 12 years of age. Additionally, the case invokes the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, with sections 5m for penetrative sexual assault on a child below 12 years and 6 for aggravated penetrative sexual assault.

Investigation and Aftermath

The body of the accused has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death, as confirmed by SHO Gautam Singh. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the full sequence of events and gather all necessary evidence. This case has underscored the urgent need for vigilance and protection of children in communities, raising serious concerns about child safety and the mechanisms to prevent such atrocities.

The local police are actively involved in the probe, and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young children and the devastating consequences of such brutal acts.
