Patna Police Rescues Abducted Youth in 2-Hour Operation After Daylight Kidnapping
Patna: Youth rescued hours after daylight abduction

In a swift and decisive operation, the Patna Police successfully rescued a 22-year-old man within hours of his brazen daylight abduction on Saturday. The victim, identified as Sumit Kumar, a resident of Prithvipur Chiraiyatand in Patna, was kidnapped near the Pataliputra Sports Complex, falling under the limits of the Kankarbagh police station.

The Daylight Abduction: A Witness Saves the Day

The shocking incident unfolded when unidentified assailants targeted Sumit Kumar. The criminals forcibly pulled him off his motorcycle and bundled him into a waiting car before speeding away from the scene. This bold act in broad daylight, however, did not go unnoticed. A local youth from a nearby slum witnessed the entire event and immediately alerted the Kankarbagh police, triggering a rapid response from the authorities.

Swift Police Action Leads to Recovery

Relying on crucial CCTV footage and real-time tracking techniques, the police launched an intensive search operation that spanned nearly two hours and covered various parts of the city. The chase reached its climax in the Bahadurpur area. Cornered by the police, the kidnappers panicked, abandoned their vehicle, and fled the scene on foot. They left the abducted youth, Sumit Kumar, near a garden. The victim was immediately recovered and found to be safe and unharmed.

Investigation Points to a Petty Dispute as Motive

On Sunday, ASP Sadar Abhinav Kumar provided details based on the victim's statement. He revealed that five people were involved in the kidnapping—three in the car and two on a motorcycle. Preliminary investigations suggest a minor dispute was the likely trigger for the extreme act. According to the police, about ten days before the abduction, Sumit accidentally spilled tea on some youths at a tea stall, leading to a heated argument.

"The police are conducting an independent and detailed investigation," stated ASP Kumar. The authorities have already recovered a motorcycle belonging to the accused and are working to identify the suspects using its registration number. Raids are currently underway to apprehend the fleeing criminals. The ASP added that the exact motive behind the kidnapping will only be conclusively confirmed once all the accused are arrested.
