The Patna Traffic Police have unveiled a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure the smooth and safe observance of the 359th Prakash Parv, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. The restrictions will be in force over several days, with significant diversions planned on key arteries in the Patna City area.
Detailed Traffic Restrictions and Diversions
The plan outlines specific rules for different vehicle categories. From 4 am on December 25 to 6 am on December 27, movement for small vehicles and auto-rickshaws will be restricted on Ashok Rajpath between Gaighat and Purab Darwaza. Traffic will be diverted via Nawab Bahadur Road and Sudarshan Path to reach Patna Sahib.
For heavy commercial vehicles and trucks carrying construction materials like cement, sand, and iron rods, a longer restriction period is in place. From midnight on December 24 to midnight on December 28, these vehicles will be barred from entering the Patna City area. They must use the New Bypass instead of Ashok Rajpath. Trucks delivering goods to Bazar Samiti will have a narrow window, permitted only between 2 am and 4 am.
Nagar Kirtan Day and Complete Road Closures
The most extensive restrictions will be enforced on the day of the Nagar Kirtan, December 26. On this day, all vehicles will be prohibited on Ashok Rajpath from Gaighat to Didarganj from 4 am until midnight. Furthermore, the stretch from Paschim Darwaza to Purab Darwaza will remain completely closed to all traffic from midnight on December 25 to 6 am on December 28.
To manage the influx of devotees, parking arrangements have been made at three key locations:
- Bazar Samiti in Didarganj
- Mangal Talab
- Kanganghat
The police have also earmarked emergency routes. One route via JP Ganga Path will facilitate access to PMCH, while another via Danka Imli will lead to NMCH, ensuring critical medical access is maintained.
Police Deployment and Religious Schedule
To enforce the diversions and manage crowds, police personnel have been deployed in three shifts at crucial points, including Chowk Shikarpur, Purab Darwaza, and Didarganj.
The religious ceremonies will commence with the Badi Prabhat Pheri on December 25, starting at 4 am from Takhat Sahib and returning by 8:30 am via Patna Sahib Station. A Kirtan Darbar will be held at Takhat Sahib from December 25 to 27. The main Nagar Kirtan procession on December 26 will proceed from Gurdwara Gaighat to Takhat Sahib between 1 pm and 8 pm.
It is important to note that all restrictions will not apply to emergency and essential vehicles. Ambulances, hearses, vehicles carrying patients, dedicated devotee transport, and vehicles with official pass-holders will be exempted from these traffic rules.
