Patna DM & SSP Crack Down: Prohibition, Mafia & Land Disputes in Focus
Patna DM Reviews Law & Order, Stresses Prohibition & Land Disputes

In a decisive review meeting held on Tuesday, the top administration of Patna district underscored its commitment to stringent law enforcement and public grievance redressal. District Magistrate (DM) Thiyagarajan S M stated that the district is performing well in implementing the prohibition law but called for heightened urgency in several key areas.

Strict Directives on Prohibition and Mafia Crackdown

DM Thiyagarajan S M and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya K Sharma made it clear that there would be no compromise on maintaining law and order. They instructed all officials to act promptly to expedite the disposal of cases related to confiscated property, destruction of seized liquor, and securing convictions under the prohibition law.

The officials were directed to take strict legal action against organized networks involved in illegal activities, specifically naming the land, liquor, and sand mafia. The DM warned that any negligence or irregularity in handling these sensitive cases would invite disciplinary action.

Top Priority: Resolving Land Disputes and Tech-Driven Surveillance

The administration identified the resolution of long-pending land disputes as its top priority. In this connection, DM Thiyagarajan ordered officials to conduct special Saturday meetings dedicated to this issue and to upload the proceedings directly to the Bhu-Samadhan portal for transparency and tracking.

To combat the issue of illegal sand mining, the district administration plans a technological overhaul. The strategy includes:

  • Deploying drones and high-tech boats for monitoring.
  • Strengthening the intelligence network to halt unauthorized transport and storage.
  • Leveraging the Patna Smart City Integrated Command and Control Centre, which monitors over 3,300 CCTV cameras across 415 locations, equipped with speed detection and automatic number plate recognition systems.

Ensuring Accountability and Public Satisfaction

The DM directed the immediate destruction of seized liquor and the timely auction of confiscated vehicles. All Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) were instructed to review pending cases police station-wise to ensure their rapid disposal.

For better civic management, the DM and SSP ordered regular multi-agency drives to remove encroachments. They emphasized that follow-up teams must remain active, and First Information Reports (FIRs) must be filed against repeat offenders to ensure smooth traffic flow.

On the crucial front of public grievance redressal, DM Thiyagarajan stressed that mere disposal of cases was insufficient. He mandated that transparency, accountability, and public satisfaction were non-negotiable parameters for evaluating the administration's performance in addressing citizen concerns.
