Amravati: In a dramatic turn of events in the Paratwada case, main accused Ayaan Ahmed and four others were remanded in judicial custody on Monday, but immediately one of the accused, Uzer Khan, was taken into police custody in connection with a POCSO case.
Cops had arrested eight accused, of whom three had been sent to judicial custody on April 21.
On Monday, Ayaan Ahmed Tanveer Ahmed, Uzer Khan Iqbal Khan, Mohd. Saad Mohd. Sabir, Tabrez Khan Tasleem Khan, and Ahfaz Khan Mansoor Khan were produced in Achalpur court after their police custody remand ended. The public prosecutor requested the court to extend police custody remand. However, the court ordered to keep them in judicial custody.
Soon after, police took into custody accused number 2, Uzer Khan, in another case in which he was allegedly stalking a 16-year-old girl from Paratwada. After the girl's parents became aware, they had warned Uzer. But he continued to contact the girl. The girl's mother filed a complaint with Paratwada police on April 19. Based on the complaint, cops registered a separate offence against Uzer and took him into custody.
Prosecution was led by public prosecutor Dhanraj Navale, who argued in favour of granting police custody. He emphasized the seriousness of the allegations and the necessity of custodial interrogation. On the defence side, advocates Sayyed Mustafa Ali, Sayyed Sameer, and Sayyed Khalid Ali represented the accused, contesting aspects of the prosecution's claims.
