Panchkula Police Takes Action to Boost Awareness of Raha-Veer Scheme

The Panchkula police have initiated a fresh awareness drive focused on the Raha-Veer Yojana. This effort aims to motivate local citizens to assist road accident victims without any fear of legal complications. Police officials want people to step forward confidently during emergencies.

Understanding the Raha-Veer Yojana

The Central Government introduced the Raha-Veer scheme in 2025. Haryana state implemented it during the same year. The primary goal is to ensure injured persons receive urgent medical attention within the Golden Hour. This term refers to the first hour after an accident, which medical experts consider critical for saving lives.

Under this scheme, any individual who helps an injured road accident victim reach a hospital promptly earns recognition as a Raha-Veer. Good Samaritans qualify for a cash reward of ₹25,000 along with an official certificate of appreciation. The Motor Vehicles Act provides complete legal immunity to protect these helpers from any police or legal hassles.

Low Awareness and Public Hesitation

Despite these clear safeguards, public awareness about the Raha-Veer Yojana remains surprisingly low. DCP Manpreet Singh Sudan, who oversees crime and traffic in Panchkula, highlighted this issue. He noted that many people still hesitate to offer help due to persistent concerns about potential legal troubles or police involvement.

This hesitation can delay crucial medical assistance, endangering lives that might otherwise be saved. The police department recognizes the urgent need to change public perception and encourage proactive behavior.

Recent Awareness Drive in Surajpur

To tackle this awareness gap, the Panchkula traffic police conducted a special drive in the Surajpur area on Thursday. Traffic SHO Abhishek led the team during this initiative. Officers interacted directly with motorists and local residents, distributing information and answering questions.

They explained in simple terms that individuals who assist accident victims will not face any legal trouble. Instead, the government will honour them with rewards and certificates. The police emphasized the importance of community support in saving lives during road accidents.

This drive forms part of a broader strategy to embed the Raha-Veer Yojana into public consciousness. Panchkula police plan to continue such efforts across different neighborhoods, ensuring more residents understand their rights and protections under the scheme.
