A joint police operation in Palamu district has led to the arrest of five individuals linked to multiple burglary and theft cases. The team, comprising officers from Town and Chainpur police stations, made the arrests on Monday. This action targets a gang responsible for a series of crimes across the region.
Details of the Arrested Accused
Police identified the arrested individuals as Raja Dome (23), Lucky Dome (19), Akash Dome (19), Ashu Chandravanshi (18), and Sunita Dome (45). Sunita Dome is the mother of Akash Dome. All five reside within the limits of the Town police station in Daltonganj. Authorities have connected them to 14 separate cases of burglary and theft.

According to Palamu SP Reeshma Rameshan, the gang specifically targeted locked houses. They would conduct reconnaissance during the daytime and execute their burglaries at night. The police have registered six of these cases with the Town police station, two with the Chainpur police station, and five with the Garhwa police station in neighbouring Garhwa district. Notably, one case is also registered in Uttar Pradesh, indicating the gang's operational reach.
Recovery of Stolen Valuables
During the investigation, police recovered significant stolen property from the accused. This includes jewellery valued at approximately Rs 4 lakh, comprising 30 grams of gold and 400 grams of silver. In a surprising find, officers also seized antique coins dating back to 1875, 1878, and 1901. The recovery of these historical items adds a unique dimension to the case.
The successful operation highlights effective coordination between police stations in tackling organized crime. The arrests are expected to bring relief to affected residents and help solve multiple pending theft cases in the area.
