Police in Bihar have made one arrest in connection with a horrific gang rape case in Purnia district. Authorities are now actively searching for five other suspects who remain at large. The incident involved a 24-year-old orchestra dancer who was brutally assaulted late on Saturday night.
Details of the Assault
According to police statements released on Monday, the victim was forcibly taken by two men in a car. The abduction occurred at Mewalal Chowk around 9 PM on Saturday. The woman reported that the road was deserted due to cold and foggy conditions, preventing her from screaming for help.
The assailants covered her eyes with a cloth during the journey. They transported her to a garage-like premises where four additional men were waiting. All six individuals then subjected her to a terrifying ordeal.
Victim's Harrowing Account
In her statement to authorities, the woman described being forced to consume alcohol against her will. The men then made her dance under duress. Following this humiliation, all six accused took turns sexually assaulting her.
"They tied a cloth over my eyes so I could not see the route," the victim recounted. "Both took me to a godown-like place. Four people were already present there. All of them together forced me to drink alcohol."
Police Response and Rescue
After committing the crime, five of the assailants locked the door from outside and fled the scene. One accused remained inside, falling asleep in an intoxicated state. This provided the victim with a crucial opportunity to seek help.
She managed to use the sleeping man's phone to call Dial-112 around 12:15 AM. Police responded quickly, arriving at the location soon after receiving the distress call. Officers had to break down the garage door to reach the victim.
Scene of the Crime
Local SHO Rajesh Kumar described finding the woman in an unconscious state, covered in blood. The room contained scattered liquor bottles, and the intoxicated man was discovered lying nearby. Police immediately secured the scene and began their investigation.

The arrested individual has been identified as Md Junaid. Authorities have registered an FIR based on the victim's statement, naming three specific individuals and three unknown persons. Purnia SP Sweety Sehrawat confirmed that a special team led by the Baisi SDPO has been formed to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Medical examination of the victim is currently underway. Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar has assured the public that the case will be solved soon, with all accused facing arrest.
Political Reactions
The incident has sparked strong political reactions in Bihar. Purnia MP Pappu Yadav targeted the state government, raising serious questions about law and order. He referenced multiple recent crimes against women in the state.
"Fear of law has ended in Bihar," Yadav declared. "The rape of a five-year-old girl in Khagaria, the rape and murder of a student in a Patna hostel, and now the brutality committed against a woman in Purnia in recent days cannot be tolerated."
The MP demanded severe punishment for the perpetrators. "These executioners should not be spared," he insisted. "They should be hanged after a speedy trial."
Police continue their investigation while maintaining heightened vigilance in the area. The search for the five remaining suspects intensifies as authorities work to bring all involved to justice.
