In a swift operation, the Noida Police has unraveled an elaborate scheme where employees of a private company staged a robbery to embezzle a significant sum of money. The police have arrested five individuals and recovered the stolen cash along with a weapon used in the crime.
The Staged Robbery and Swift Arrests
The Central Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shakti Mohan Avasthy, announced that the Sector-63 police team arrested five people on Tuesday for their involvement in the conspiracy. The accused have been identified as Ompal (32), Veer Pratap (29), Sonu Gurjar (29), Abhilash Rai (30), and Ankit Satnami (24).
The plot was masterminded by Ompal, who worked as a driver for Asteroid Shelters Homes Pvt. Ltd. located in Greater Noida West. According to the police, he conspired with his associates to stage a highway robbery to illegally take the company's money.
How the Elaborate Conspiracy Unfolded
The incident occurred on December 12. Ompal was returning from Laxmi Nagar in Delhi with the company's cashier, Naval Kishore. When their vehicle reached the Sector-62 underpass, a Baleno car blocked their way.
Occupants of the Baleno then threatened Ompal and the cashier with what was later identified as a lighter pistol. The assailants took Rs 2 lakh in cash, mobile phones belonging to the duo, and the keys to their car before fleeing the scene.
However, a detailed investigation by the police revealed that the entire robbery was a carefully planned act. The men in the Baleno were not random criminals but accomplices of Ompal. The driver had orchestrated the event to deceive the cashier and steal the company's funds, making it appear like a genuine crime.
Recovery and Recognition for Police Work
Acting on confidential information, the police team moved quickly and apprehended all five accused. From them, the authorities successfully recovered the entire Rs 2 lakh in cash, the lighter pistol used for intimidation, and two mobile phones.
The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges for cheating, criminal breach of trust, joint liability, and criminal conspiracy. In recognition of their excellent work in cracking the case, DCP Shakti Mohan Avasthy awarded the investigating police team a cash reward of Rs 25,000.
This incident highlights the lengths to which individuals may go for financial gain and underscores the effectiveness of police intelligence and investigative procedures in tackling premeditated crimes disguised as street offences.
