Police in Noida have arrested a man for the alleged murder of his childhood friend, a crime that investigators say was committed as an act of revenge following a trivial argument. The accused, identified as Arun Kumar, was apprehended on Thursday from the Sabhapur underpass in the Ankur Vihar area.
Body Found in Empty Plot
The case came to light on Tuesday when authorities discovered a dead body lying at an empty plot in Chaman Vihar. Upon verification, the deceased was identified as Amarpal Singh, who worked as a supplier of spare parts. His family background reveals a story of humble origins: his father works as a cook, his elder brother Pradeep drives an e-rickshaw, and his younger brother Golu is still studying.
Complaint Leads to Swift Arrest
It was Pradeep who registered a formal complaint on Thursday, prompting immediate police action. Following the complaint, Arun Kumar was arrested. A significant piece of evidence was recovered from him: two mobile phones belonging to the murdered Amarpal Singh.
Childhood Friendship Shattered by Argument
Siddharth Gautam, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Loni, provided details of the motive. During interrogation, Arun stated that he and Amarpal lived in the same neighbourhood and had been friends since their childhood days. The trouble began with another common friend named Chandan.
According to the police, Arun's sister had requested Chandan to drop his sick wife for medical treatment on his motorcycle. Chandan refused this request, leading to a heated argument between Arun and Chandan that same evening. Amarpal arrived at the scene and intervened, taking Chandan's side and allegedly abusing Arun. This public humiliation and betrayal by a childhood friend is what allegedly prompted Arun to plan a violent assault on Amarpal as an act of revenge, which tragically culminated in murder.
The arrest highlights how a minor disagreement among long-time friends escalated into a fatal tragedy, leaving a family devastated and a community in shock. The police investigation is ongoing.
