Noida man killed in road rage, friend critical; 2 held

A tragic incident of road rage turned fatal in Greater Noida's Dadri area, where a 30-year-old man lost his life and his friend was left critically injured after an altercation with a group of men drinking on the road late at night.

The Fatal Confrontation

The victim, identified as Harkesh, a gym trainer and recovery agent, was returning home with his friend Mohit around 1:30 am on Monday. Their path was blocked by a car parked obliquely near Kaimrala village. A group of seven to eight men were consuming alcohol in and around the vehicle.

When Harkesh requested them to move the car, they refused. This led to an argument that quickly escalated into violence. The accused individuals attacked both Harkesh and Mohit with sticks and batons before fleeing the scene.

Aftermath and Hospitalization

Despite being seriously injured, Mohit managed to call his cousin, Kapil Pradhan, to inform him about the assault. Villagers and family members rushed to the spot and took both men to Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida. Doctors declared Harkesh dead upon arrival. Mohit remains admitted in a critical condition.

Harkesh's body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination. His last rites were performed later on Monday evening under police security.

Police Action and Community Outrage

The incident sparked tension in Kaimrala village, with residents staging a protest on Monday morning, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. A heavy police force was deployed to maintain law and order.

An FIR was registered at the Sector 20 police station based on the complaint filed by Kapil Pradhan. The named accused include Littu, Sonu, Kalu, Vikrant (all from Kaimrala), and Anuj from Chakrasenpur village, along with other unidentified persons.

Harkesh's father, Jatan Singh, told police that there was an old rivalry between his son and some of the accused, stemming from a dispute about three years ago. He claimed that before succumbing to his injuries, Harkesh identified his attackers to his elder brother.

Police have taken swift action. Two suspects have been taken into custody for questioning. Six special teams have been formed and raids are being conducted at possible hideouts to arrest the remaining accused. Greater Noida ADCP Sudhir Kumar stated that efforts are ongoing to arrest all those involved at the earliest.

Senior police officials, including Sector 20 police station in-charge Arvind Kumar, along with the station in-charge of Dankaur and the station officer of Ecotech-I police station, were deputed to ensure peace in Dadri following the violent crime.
