Noida Driver Found Murdered in Sector 135 Shanty; Police Launch Investigation

In a shocking incident in Noida, a 45-year-old man was discovered dead inside his makeshift home in Sector 135 on Sunday morning. The victim, identified as Rakesh Pal, a native of Badaun, was found with multiple injuries to his head and face, prompting police to suspect foul play.

Discovery of the Body and Initial Response

The grim discovery was made around 9:30 AM on Sunday when Pal failed to report for work as a driver for a local resident. Concerned by his absence and unresponsiveness to phone calls, his employer dispatched a colleague to check on him at his shanty located in the floodplain area of Sector 135.

The colleague arrived at the scene and found Pal lying dead near his bed inside the shanty. Immediately, emergency services were alerted via helpline number 112, and a team from the Expressway police station swiftly arrived to secure the area.

Family Circumstances and Police Suspicions

Initial investigations revealed that Pal's wife and his 10-year-old youngest son had traveled to their native town to celebrate Holi on Saturday, leaving him alone at home. "It is suspected that someone barged into his home on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday and attacked him using a sharp-edged weapon," stated a police officer involved in the case.

Notably, Pal's shanty lacked a proper door, which may have facilitated unauthorized entry. However, police officials confirmed that there were no immediate signs of theft, complicating the motive behind the attack. Family members have denied any prior disputes involving Pal, adding to the mystery.

Challenges in the Investigation

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death, with reports awaited. In response, police have formed four dedicated teams to probe the matter thoroughly.

Expressway police station SHO Amit Khari confirmed that an FIR has been registered under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A search is ongoing for the unknown accused, but the investigation faces significant hurdles due to the absence of CCTV cameras at or near the crime scene.

Broader Context and Community Impact

Pal, who lived with his wife and son in the shanty, worked as a driver for a nearby resident. His elder son, a taxi driver, was summoned to the spot after the discovery and arrived later that morning. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting vulnerabilities in informal settlements.

As police continue their efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic death, residents are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities. The case underscores ongoing concerns about safety and security in urban fringe areas.
