Noida DLSA Hosts Awareness Camp for Hindi Court Judgment Initiative
The District Legal Services Authority in GB Nagar, Noida, held a special awareness camp on Tuesday. This camp aimed to inform legal professionals about a key initiative from the Allahabad High Court. The initiative is called "Now your judgement in your own language."
SUVAS AI Tool Powers Hindi Translations
The scheme launched in March 2024. It makes judgments from the High Court and Supreme Court available in Hindi. The initiative uses SUVAS, which stands for Supreme Court Vidhik Anuvaad Software. This is a machine-assisted translation tool powered by artificial intelligence. SUVAS enables near-perfect translation of English judgments into Hindi. This makes court rulings easier for the public to understand and interpret.
Legal Professionals Receive Detailed Briefing
Secretary of DLSA, Additional District Judge Chandramohan Srivastava, spoke at the camp. He shared details of instructions issued by the Supreme Court and Allahabad High Court. These instructions cover the use of the SUVAS software. The briefing targeted panel advocates, paralegal volunteers, mediators, and advocates in the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System. Srivastava appealed to these professionals to spread legal awareness among the general public. He urged them to inform people about platforms offering original judgments and their Hindi translations.
Camp Leadership and Future Outreach Plans
The Suvas Prakoshtha camp was headed by Additional District Judge Saurabh Dwivedi. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (First) Mayank Tripathi served as the nodal officer. Srivastava outlined plans for maximum publicity and awareness. The District Bar Association and para-legal volunteers will lead these efforts. They will collaborate with the district administration, local authorities, and institutions like law colleges and universities. The goal is to ensure more people know about and benefit from this facility.
This initiative represents a significant step toward making legal information more accessible. By using AI technology, it bridges language barriers in the justice system.
