The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday apprehended one of the primary suspects in the Bhangar bomb blast case in West Bengal, which occurred in March this year, resulting in one fatality and three individuals sustaining serious injuries. The explosion took place in Dakshin Bamunia village, situated in the Bhangar area of South 24 Parganas district.
Accused Remanded to NIA Custody
The accused, identified as Ahidul Islam Molla, a resident of South 24 Parganas, was produced before a court on Monday and subsequently remanded to NIA custody for further investigation. Prior to this arrest, another suspect had been taken into custody by the state police in connection with the same case.
Coinciding with Transfer of Investigation
Molla's arrest comes on the heels of a decision made by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday to transfer the investigation into the recovery of bombs from Bhangar to the NIA. This move underscores the seriousness with which the central agency is treating the matter, as it seeks to unravel the full extent of the conspiracy behind the blast and the illegal possession of explosives in the region.
The NIA is expected to conduct a thorough probe, examining the links and motives of all individuals involved, and ensuring that justice is served for the victims of this tragic incident.
