The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has intervened in the shocking mob lynching case in Palakkad, Kerala, directing the state government to submit a detailed report. The incident led to the tragic death of Ram Narayan Baghel, a migrant worker from Chhattisgarh.

Acting promptly, the NHRC has sought a comprehensive report from the Kerala government concerning the Walayar mob lynching. The commission has instructed the state's chief secretary to submit the report within one week. Additionally, the state was directed to provide a preliminary fact-finding report by Thursday.
On the ground, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the case has intensified its search for the absconding accused. The investigation has already led to several arrests, revealing a complex political and social backdrop to the violence.

The last rites of the victim, Ram Narayan Baghel, were performed in his native village in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. His body was flown from Nedumbassery airport after completing all formalities, including a postmortem at Thrissur Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.
The postmortem report paints a horrifying picture of the assault. Baghel suffered brutal beatings, resulting in broken ribs, pierced internal organs, and fatal head injuries.
Police sources have disclosed details about those arrested. One of the apprehended individuals, Vinod Kumar, is a native of Attapalam and is identified as a Congress party worker. He was arrested by the SIT on Tuesday after initially going into hiding. Others arrested in connection with the case include workers affiliated with the BJP-RSS and the CITU, highlighting the cross-political tensions involved.
