A shocking incident unfolded in Patna when a newborn baby girl was found abandoned in a plastic bag at the entrance of a local gym. The discovery was made by the gym owner, Saurav Suman, who arrived at his fitness center located at Rajiv Nagar's Road Number 18 around 7 am on Saturday morning.
Saurav Suman noticed a plastic bag hanging on the basement door of his gym and became alarmed when he detected movement inside the bag and heard faint cries. Upon investigation, he discovered the infant wrapped inside the plastic carrier.
Immediate Police Response and Medical Care
Local authorities from Rajiv Nagar police station quickly responded to the scene after being alerted about the situation. The police team promptly admitted the newborn to a nearby hospital for medical examination and necessary care.
Medical professionals confirmed that the baby girl, estimated to be approximately five days old, was in healthy condition despite the traumatic abandonment. Station House Officer Sonu Kumar provided details to media, stating that the police have been unable to trace the child's parents so far.
SHO Kumar emphasized that the gym owner has expressed his desire to adopt the child, but must follow proper legal adoption procedures. Saurav Suman, who is already a father of two children, confirmed his intention to provide a home for the abandoned infant.
Investigation Challenges and Community Response
The investigation faces significant challenges as there were no CCTV cameras installed near the gym gate that could have captured the person who left the baby. Police authorities continue their efforts to identify the individual responsible for abandoning the newborn.
Saurav Suman provided additional context, mentioning that his gym had closed at 10 pm on Friday evening, indicating the abandonment occurred during nighttime hours. After receiving necessary medical treatment, the baby has been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee's Apna Ghar facility, where she will receive proper care while legal procedures are addressed.
