Tadasha Mishra Takes Charge as Jharkhand DGP, Outlines 2026 Priorities
New Jharkhand DGP Tadasha Mishra Sets 2026 Police Agenda

In a significant administrative move on the final day of 2025, Tadasha Mishra was appointed as the full-time Director General of Police (DGP) for Jharkhand. The appointment coincided with her superannuation day, marking a new chapter for the state's police force. Immediately after assuming office, DGP Mishra outlined her vision and the key challenges for 2026 in an exclusive conversation.

Bridging the Gap: Building Public Confidence and Protecting the Vulnerable

One of the foremost priorities for the new police chief is to rebuild public trust. Mishra acknowledged a existing gap where citizens are often hesitant to approach the police. She emphasized the need for a more humane and responsive approach to public grievances. Initiatives like 'janshikayat samadhan' (public grievance redressal) will be strengthened and expanded. Special attention will be paid to women and children, identified as the most vulnerable sections requiring consistent police support and protection.

The March Against Extremism and Organized Crime

The state police have set a definitive deadline to eradicate extremism by March 31, 2026. Expressing strong hope, DGP Mishra stated that work is actively progressing. She noted that extremist activities are now confined to only a few pockets, citing her own experience as SP of Bokaro where areas like Nawadih, once requiring road-opening parties, have returned to normalcy. She linked the decline in extremism to subsequent development works in freed areas.

To combat the rise of organized crime syndicates, Mishra revealed she has already engaged with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director. The focus is on measures to extradite gangsters operating from abroad who use local networks to threaten businessmen in Jharkhand. She made a public appeal, urging all victims of such syndicates to come forward and report threats to aid police action.

Embracing Technology to Counter Cyber Threats

Recognizing cybercriminals as a major emerging challenge, the DGP plans to make the state police force more tech-savvy. The objective is to stay a step ahead of digital criminals to curb the growing menace of cybercrime. Training programs for police personnel are already underway to enhance their technical capabilities and investigative skills in the digital domain.

With a clear agenda focusing on public service, security, and modern policing, DGP Tadasha Mishra's tenure begins with a roadmap aimed at transforming the Jharkhand Police's effectiveness and its relationship with the citizens in the new year.
