NCB Hyderabad Makes Major Drug Bust, Seizes 813 Kg of Ganja
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Hyderabad Zone executed a coordinated operation early Tuesday morning. The raid took place on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where authorities seized a massive 813 kilograms of ganja.
Three Arrested from Karnataka in Coordinated Operation
During the operation, NCB officers arrested three individuals. All three hail from Bidar in Karnataka. The arrests followed the interception of a modified lorry suspected of transporting narcotic substances.
NCB officials deployed two separate teams for this operation. Their intelligence indicated the vehicle was moving from Malkangiri district in Odisha towards Latur in Maharashtra.
Modified Lorry Used to Conceal Contraband
Upon stopping the vehicle, officers conducted a thorough search. They discovered the lorry had an expired registration certificate. More importantly, the vehicle had undergone structural alterations specifically designed to hide illegal goods.
Investigators found a cleverly concealed cylindrical cavity that resembled a fuel tank. This hidden compartment was camouflaged with grass and covered by a tarpaulin sheet to avoid detection.
When officers inspected this hidden space, they recovered the entire 813 kg consignment of ganja. The sophisticated concealment method highlights the lengths traffickers go to evade law enforcement.
Repeat Offender Among Those Arrested
Preliminary investigations revealed troubling details about one of the accused. This individual is a repeat offender with a history in drug-related crimes.
Officials confirmed this person was previously involved in two separate ganja cases. Both previous incidents occurred in Karnataka and Maharashtra, showing a pattern of cross-state drug trafficking activities.
NCB Expands Investigation into Drug Network
The Narcotics Control Bureau has stated their investigation is far from over. Authorities are now working to trace both the source and destination of the seized contraband.
NCB officials aim to identify what they call forward and backward linkages in the drug supply chain. This means tracking where the drugs came from and where they were headed.
Additionally, investigators will examine financial trails connected to this trafficking operation. They hope to uncover money movement patterns that could lead to other syndicate members.
The ultimate goal is to ascertain involvement of other individuals within this drug trafficking network. This operation represents a significant blow to narcotics distribution channels in the region.
