In a swift investigation, the Raigad police, in coordination with the Pali police, have successfully cracked the murder case of a 60-year-old widow whose body was discovered last month. The breakthrough came on Friday, leading to the arrest of a man known to the victim.

Gruesome Discovery Under Awandhe Bridge

The case began on December 16, when the body of the elderly widow was found beneath the Awandhe bridge in Sudhagad taluka. The victim had sustained multiple injuries, prompting authorities to register a formal murder case at the Pali police station on December 17.

Canteen Colleague Arrested for Murder

Police Sub-Inspector Ankush Sangle of Pali police station provided crucial details about the arrest. The apprehended accused has been identified as Kisan Ramchandra Bhaud. Investigations revealed that the victim and Bhaud were acquainted, as both had worked together at the canteen in DY Patil Hospital, Nerul.

According to the police, Bhaud confessed to the crime, citing a financial dispute as the motive. He admitted to killing the widow because she was persistently insisting that he repay a loan of Rs 15,000 that he had taken from her.

Chilling Modus Operandi Revealed

PSI Sangle elaborated on the sequence of events based on the accused's statement and evidence. "Bhaud stated that he visited her residence in Taraste village and told her he had arranged the money to repay the loan," said Sangle. He lured her by saying she needed to accompany him to Navi Mumbai to complete the transaction.

Upon reaching the Awandhe bridge, Bhaud assaulted the woman and then pushed her off the structure. Critical CCTV footage later emerged, showing Bhaud walking with the victim towards the fateful location. This visual evidence proved instrumental in the case.

Following the identification from the CCTV, the police team tracked down and arrested Kisan Ramchandra Bhaud from his residence in Sanpada.

The coordinated efforts between the Raigad and Pali police units led to the rapid detection of the case, bringing a measure of closure to a brutal crime. The accused is now in custody and will face legal proceedings for his alleged actions.
