Nashik Police Release Sketch in Acid Attack on Minor Schoolgirl
In a significant development, the Ahilyanagar police in Nashik have publicly released a detailed sketch of the primary suspect involved in a horrific acid-like substance attack on a 13-year-old schoolgirl. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, has prompted a major joint investigation involving multiple police units.
Attack Details and Police Investigation
According to official police reports, the motorcycle-riding accused, described as a man aged between 32 and 35 years, approached the young victim as she was cycling home from school. The perpetrator allegedly pretended to ask for directions to an address before suddenly throwing the corrosive substance directly onto the girl's face, causing severe facial injuries. He then fled the scene immediately.
The police have mobilized specialized teams from technical analysis, forensic science, the detection branch, along with officers from both Sangamner city and taluka police stations to work collaboratively on the case. "Based on multiple witness accounts and descriptions, our investigators have meticulously prepared and now published this sketch of the suspect," stated a senior police officer. "We are making a strong appeal to the public to come forward with any information about this individual. Complete confidentiality is guaranteed for all informants, and tips can be reported directly to the Sangamner Taluka police station."
Victim's Medical Condition and Treatment
The injured girl was rushed to the Pravara Medical Trust Hospital in Loni, where she remains under intensive care. Her condition is currently reported as stable. She is being treated by a comprehensive medical team that includes general physicians, plastic surgeons, and ophthalmologists.
Dr. Suresh Jagdale, Medical Superintendent of the Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Pravara Rural Hospital, confirmed that the victim is responding positively to the ongoing medical interventions. Highlighting the seriousness of the case, Pravara Deemed University Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Vikhe Patil and Trustee Dhruv Vikhe Patil made an emergency visit to the hospital. They issued special instructions to ensure the highest standard of care for the young patient.
The initial plastic surgery was successfully performed by a medical team led by Dr. Gokul Jorvekar, along with plastic surgeon Dr. Prashant Mun and Dr. Anand Dugad. The hospital has already conducted critical procedures including burn debridement and collagen dressing. The girl sustained approximately 6% burn injuries to her face and is also receiving psychological counseling from hospital psychiatrists to address trauma.
Family Background and Hospital Support
The girl's maternal uncle provided heartbreaking context about her family situation. "Her father passed away four years ago due to a brain-related illness. Since that tragedy, the girl, her mother, and her sibling have been living with me," he explained. "Her father used to work at small construction sites to support the family."
He further revealed that the school is located about 4 kilometers from their home. "I used to drop her on my motorcycle previously. Last year, I bought her a bicycle, and she had just begun cycling to school independently this year. I never could have imagined something so terrible would happen," the uncle added emotionally.
In a compassionate gesture, Dr. Jagdale announced that the hospital will bear the entire cost of the girl's medical treatment. She is expected to remain hospitalized for approximately one more month, as she will need to undergo several additional surgeries to aid her recovery.
