Nashik Police Intensify Search for Well Owner in Tragic Drowning Case
The Nashik rural police have escalated their investigation into the heartbreaking incident that claimed nine lives in Dindori town. Two dedicated teams have been mobilized to locate Rajendra Raje, the owner of the well where the tragedy unfolded on Friday night.
Details of the Fatal Accident and Legal Action
The catastrophic event occurred when a car carrying a family plunged into the unprotected well in the Shivajinagar area. Among the victims were six children, making the loss particularly devastating for the community.
Police have registered a case of causing death by negligence against Raje, citing his failure to secure the well properly to prevent such accidents. Inspector Bhagwan Mathure of the Dindori police station confirmed that Raje has been named as the second accused in the case, alongside the deceased car driver, Sunil Dargode.
"Rajendra Raje has not been traced so far," stated Inspector Mathure. "However, we are confident he will soon be apprehended as our two specialized teams are actively working to determine his current whereabouts."
Immediate Remedial Measures by Local Authorities
In response to the tragedy, the Dindori civic body has taken swift action to eliminate the hazard. Municipal workers have completed the substantial task of filling the dangerous well with over 12,000 tonnes of murum and mud.
Officials from the civic body have revealed they are now in preliminary discussions with the town planning department regarding potential future use of the site. "We have initiated communication to explore the feasibility of constructing a road over the filled well," explained a municipal representative.
The decision-making process will involve:
- Retrieving detailed area documentation from the town planning department
- Thoroughly studying the relevant land records and plans
- Making a final determination about road construction based on technical and regulatory considerations
Community Mourning and Memorial
On Sunday, the local community gathered to honor the memory of the deceased family members. Residents of Indore village organized a solemn condolence meeting to pay their respects to the Dargode family.
"The entire village came together to express our collective grief and offer support," said Deepak Dhatrak, a resident who participated in the memorial gathering. The tragedy has deeply affected the close-knit community, prompting both official investigations and personal expressions of sympathy.
The Nashik police continue their pursuit of Rajendra Raje while municipal authorities work to ensure no similar tragedy can occur at the site in the future. The case highlights critical issues of property owner responsibility and public safety infrastructure in rural areas.
