Nashik Lok Adalat Achieves Landmark Resolution of Over 16,000 Cases

The National Lok Adalat held in Nashik district on Saturday achieved a significant milestone by resolving a total of 16,826 cases across various courts. This extensive legal exercise was organized under the guidance of District and Sessions Court Judge S D Jagmalani, with the District Legal Service Authority playing a pivotal role in its execution.

Comprehensive Case Resolution Through 55 Panels

To manage the high volume of cases, the district court established 55 specialized panels to hear and adjudicate matters efficiently. These panels addressed a wide spectrum of legal disputes, ranging from pre-litigation cases to long-pending court matters.

Court officials reported that out of 80,267 pre-litigation cases, an impressive 12,677 were successfully resolved. Additionally, from the 32,975 pending court cases, 4,159 were settled, demonstrating the Adalat's effectiveness in reducing judicial backlog.

Major Motor Accident Claims Successfully Settled

A notable highlight of the Lok Adalat was the resolution of 273 motor vehicle accident cases, including several high-value claims. In one prominent case, the legal heirs of Santosh Jadhav, a biker who tragically lost his life in a 2022 accident near Mirchi Hotel after being hit by a truck, received a substantial settlement of Rs 73 lakh.

Another significant settlement involved the family of constable Madhukar Laxman Khule, who died in a collision with a pickup truck near Pandhurli junction in July 2022. Through mutual consent, the family was awarded Rs 46.50 lakh, providing crucial financial support and closure.

Diverse Case Types Addressed and Resolved

The Lok Adalat's scope extended beyond accident claims to include various other legal matters. In the realm of family disputes, 40 couples agreed to settle their differences through counseling and mediation, choosing to continue their married lives together. This outcome underscores the Adalat's role in promoting harmony and reducing familial strife.

Other resolved cases included:

  • 1,141 cheque bounce cases, addressing financial disputes efficiently.
  • Six labour department cases, ensuring fair resolutions for workplace issues.

The successful execution of the National Lok Adalat was overseen by District and Sessions Court Judge S D Jagmalani. Secretary of the District Legal Service Authority, Suhas Bhosle, confirmed the details through an official release, highlighting the collaborative efforts that made this large-scale legal initiative possible.

This event not only provided timely justice to thousands of litigants but also alleviated pressure on the regular court system, showcasing the importance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the Indian judicial landscape.
