As Nagpur prepares to ring in the New Year, the city police have unveiled a comprehensive and intensive security plan to ensure celebrations remain safe and orderly. Dubbed 'Operation All Out', this major initiative will see an unprecedented deployment of force for a continuous 10-hour duration.
Massive Police Deployment and Strategic Checkpoints
Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal announced that the operation will be in effect from 7 pm on December 31, 2025, until 5 am on January 1, 2026. A staggering 3,500 police personnel, ranging from the commissioner to constables, will be stationed across Nagpur. The strategy involves setting up 131 'naka bandis' or checkpoints at strategic locations, manned by joint teams from the police and traffic departments.
These teams will conduct rigorous checks, with a primary focus on curbing drunken and rash driving. Breathalyser tests will be widespread, and officials have warned of severe penalties for offenders. "Drunk driving enforcement will be unprecedentedly stringent this year," stated Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, emphasizing action against those leaving bars and restaurants under the influence.
Zero Tolerance on Road Celebrations and Narcotics
A key directive from the police is the complete ban on road celebrations and the bursting of firecrackers in public spaces. CP Singal explicitly stated that no group gatherings or revelry on roads will be permitted. Legal action will be initiated against those found bursting crackers, especially at identified hotspots including RBI Square, Bajaj Nagar Square, and Laxmi Nagar Square, among others.
Adding a critical layer to the operation, the police will deploy special sniffer dog squads to monitor and raid narcotics hotspots. These anti-drug squads, equipped with narcotics canine units, will conduct surprise checks at party venues, hotels, clubs, and nightlife spots to detect illegal substances and crack down on peddlers and users.
Unprecedented Stringency for a Safe Transition
"This year, checks will be more stringent than ever," affirmed CP Ravinder Singal. The overarching goal of 'Operation All Out' is to achieve zero casualties and prevent serious offences during the festivities. The police aim to dominate the roads throughout the night to ensure public safety.
The measures build upon recent drives and will be supported by Quick Response Teams, PCR vans, and extensive patrolling units covering main roads and crowded areas. DCP Traffic Lohit Matani, leading 'Operation U-Turn', reiterated that offenders caught drunk driving will face heavy fines and legal action to prevent fatal accidents.
Authorities have urged partygoers to celebrate responsibly by using cabs instead of driving after drinking, avoiding road parties, and reporting suspicious activities. Venue owners have been instructed to strictly comply with timings, capacity limits, and security protocols. With these robust measures, Nagpur Police's 'Operation All Out' promises a secure and peaceful welcome to the year 2026.
