The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2026 today, June 22. The exam is being held across multiple shifts in various test centres nationwide. Candidates are advised to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the NTA to avoid any inconvenience.
Exam Schedule and Shifts
The UGC NET 2026 is scheduled in two shifts: the first shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the second shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Candidates must report to their respective centres at least one hour before the commencement of the exam. Latecomers will not be allowed entry.
Essential Documents to Carry
Candidates must bring a printed copy of the admit card and a valid photo ID proof such as Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, or driver's license. The NTA has emphasized that without these documents, candidates will not be permitted to appear for the exam. Additionally, candidates should carry a passport-size photograph for identification purposes.
Prohibited Items Inside the Exam Hall
The NTA has banned electronic gadgets including mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, and any other communication devices inside the exam hall. Candidates are also not allowed to carry bags, books, notes, or any study material. Any candidate found violating these rules will be disqualified.
COVID-19 Safety Protocols
Although COVID-19 cases have declined, the NTA has recommended that candidates wear masks and maintain social distancing at the exam centres. Hand sanitizers will be provided at the entrance. Candidates showing symptoms of illness are advised to inform the centre authorities.
Special Arrangements for PwD Candidates
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates will be provided with scribes as per the NTA guidelines. Such candidates must carry a disability certificate issued by a competent medical authority. They will be allowed extra time as per the norms.
How to Check Exam Centre Details
Candidates can download their admit card from the official NTA website: ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The admit card contains the exam centre address, reporting time, and other important instructions. It is advisable to verify the centre location a day before the exam to avoid last-minute confusion.
