The helpline was announced as a core component of the comprehensive anti-drug campaign named 'Vimukthi'. The campaign's inauguration coincided with the opening of the Siddaratha Nagar traffic police building in Mysuru, where Home Minister G Parameshwara unveiled promotional posters. Emphasizing a collaborative approach, the police are positioning this as a public-driven effort, relying on timely inputs from residents to identify and act against drug offences effectively.

Commissioner of Police for Mysuru City, Seema Latkar, highlighted the importance of public cooperation, particularly from individuals closely connected to youth.
