Mysuru Police Sets 1 AM Deadline for New Year 2026 Celebrations
Mysuru New Year 2026: 1 AM Deadline, Chamundi Hill 9 PM Curfew

As Mysuru prepares to welcome the year 2026, the city police have rolled out a comprehensive security blueprint to ensure orderly and safe celebrations. The key directive mandates that all New Year's Eve festivities in hotels, clubs, and resorts must conclude by 1:00 AM on January 1, 2026. Event organizers are required to obtain explicit police permission before hosting any celebrations.

Stringent Safety Measures and Special Task Forces

The police commissioner's office stated that the primary focus is on public protection, with a special emphasis on the safety of women and children to prevent any untoward incidents. To enforce this, special task forces led by police inspectors have been constituted at every police station across the city.

These teams have been empowered to take strict and immediate action against harassment, indecent behavior, or any mischief carried out under the guise of celebration. Legal proceedings will be initiated against all offenders without exception.

Pink Garuda Patrols and Enhanced Surveillance

For ensuring women's security, the Pink Garuda, also known as the Chamundi Force, will be on active duty. This dedicated wing of women police officers and staff will conduct intensive patrols in sensitive and crowded areas throughout the city.

The security apparatus will be further bolstered by canine squads, anti-sabotage teams, and a significantly expanded network of CCTV cameras. These resources will monitor key locations round-the-clock to maintain robust law and order.

Traffic Control and Chamundi Hill Restrictions

Regulating traffic has been declared a major priority. Quick-response teams will be deployed citywide to curb dangerous activities like wheeling, drag racing, drunken driving, and the use of vehicles with modified exhausts that cause noise pollution. Multiple checkpoints will operate 24/7, backed by 112 emergency response vehicles and highway patrol units.

Specific and strict restrictions will be enforced at Chamundi Hill. Public entry will be regulated, and everyone must vacate the area by 9:00 PM on New Year's Eve. The police have also mandated that noise levels must remain within permissible limits at all venues. Any program involving obscenity, drugs, or gambling is strictly prohibited.

The police have appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the authorities and to report any emergencies immediately through the 112 emergency helpline.
