Muzaffarpur Family Tragedy Unfolds as Police Probe Multiple Angles

Police in Muzaffarpur district are investigating a heartbreaking case involving the deaths of a woman and her three young children. The bodies were discovered on January 15 near Chandwara Bridge in the Ahiyapur police station area.

Gruesome Discovery and Family Details

Authorities found the bodies of Mamta Devi, aged 28, tied together with her children using a dupatta. Her children were identified as Kriti, who was just 2 years old, Aditya, aged 7, and Ankush, aged 5. The family lived in a rented home in Sipahapur locality under the same police jurisdiction.

Police Investigation Reveals Troubling Details

Based on a complaint filed by Mamta's husband Krishna Mohan, police arrested a man named Amod on Saturday. Officers charged him with kidnapping the woman and her children. Police sent Amod to jail following his arrest.

Investigators revealed that Mamta had been involved in an illicit relationship with Amod for approximately one year. Police discovered this information while examining cellphone records mentioned in the kidnapping complaint. The records showed extensive conversations between Mamta and Amod.

Police also found photographs confirming their relationship, according to Muzaffarpur SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra. The police chief stated that these findings emerged during their thorough investigation.

Multiple Lines of Inquiry Develop

Police issued a notice to Mamta's husband Krishna Mohan for questioning amid serious allegations. Investigators received information suggesting that Krishna often assaulted his wife. This revelation has prompted police to explore whether the deaths connect to domestic violence.

During interrogation, Amod admitted to having a video call with Mamta's cousin's sister-in-law the day after Mamta disappeared. The call lasted about one and a half hours.

Unanswered Questions and Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have not yet determined whether the four individuals died by suicide or if someone murdered them. Police emphasized that the actual cause of death will only become clear after viscera examination reports arrive.

City SP Mohibullah Ansari explained that police are collecting scientific evidence due to the case's seriousness. Investigators are exploring whether Amod deceived Mamta with false marriage promises, potentially leading to suicide. Alternatively, police are examining if someone planned to eliminate the entire family.

Timeline of Events

The woman and her children went missing from their home on January 10 morning after visiting the local market. Krishna Mohan filed a kidnapping complaint against an unidentified caller on January 12. The caller had informed Krishna that he intended to marry Mamta.

Muzaffarpur SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra directed the formation of a special investigation team to handle this complex case. The SIT continues to pursue all possible angles in this tragic investigation.
