Tragic Suicide of Muzaffarnagar Couple in Hotel Room
In a heartbreaking incident, a 26-year-old man and a girl, whose age is currently under dispute, allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison in a hotel room in the Nanauta area of Saharanpur. The police confirmed the tragic event on Saturday, revealing that the couple had been missing from Muzaffarnagar district for two days prior to their deaths.
Conflicting Age Claims and Police Investigation
The deceased man has been identified as Ajmal, according to police reports. However, the age of the girl has become a central point of contention. The girl's father, who filed a kidnapping case against Ajmal at the Budhana police station, stated in the FIR that his daughter was 14 years old. In stark contrast, Ajmal's family has claimed that the girl was actually 18 years old.
Saharanpur police officials have announced that they are actively verifying the age of the deceased girl to resolve this discrepancy. Both Ajmal and the girl hailed from the same village under the Budhana police station limits in Muzaffarnagar and belonged to the same community, adding a layer of complexity to the investigation.
Disturbing Details of the Final Hours
Nanauta Station House Officer Naveen Kumar provided chilling details to PTI about the events leading up to the tragedy. Ajmal had checked into 'Hotel Blue One' two days earlier and maintained contact with his cousin, Rizwan, through video calls. During one such call, Ajmal reportedly showed Rizwan a packet containing a poisonous substance and expressed his firm intention to end his life.
Despite Rizwan's repeated attempts to dissuade him, Ajmal remained resolute. Acting swiftly, Rizwan alerted the family, who rushed to the hotel on Friday evening. Upon arrival, they discovered both Ajmal and the girl unconscious in the room.
Medical Efforts and Fatal Outcome
The unconscious couple was immediately transported to a community health centre at Rampur Maniharan for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of their condition, they were subsequently referred to a higher medical facility in Shamli for advanced care.
Tragically, despite all medical efforts, both Ajmal and the girl were declared dead by doctors at a private hospital in Shamli. The police have confirmed that further investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths is currently underway.
