Mumbai Youth Faces Legal Action for Reckless Bike Wheelie Stunt on Palm Beach Road

A 24-year-old youth from Mumbai has been formally booked by the NRI coastal police for executing a perilous bike wheelie stunt along the Palm Beach Road stretch. The incident, which occurred past midnight on Saturday, has drawn significant police attention following the viral circulation of the stunt video on various social media platforms.

Police Take Swift Action After Viral Video Surfaces

Devendra Pol, the senior officer at the NRI coastal police station, confirmed that an FIR was registered against the biker after the video clip gained widespread traction online. The authorities took immediate cognisance of the offence, leading to legal proceedings under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash or negligent driving, as well as applicable sections of the Motor Vehicle Act pertaining to dangerous driving.

Constable Amit Surve provided further details, stating, "The complaint regarding the viral bike stunt video was received by our police team, which actively monitors social media to curb illegal activities. Consequently, an FIR was officially registered on April 3. The actual incident was recorded on April 1 at approximately 10:45 PM."

Accused Identified and Vehicle Seized

Through meticulous investigation, police traced the accused to his residence in Goregaon using the bike's registration number. The individual has been identified as Arpan Arup Niyogi, who works as a contract labourer. Following his detention, authorities registered the FIR and proceeded to seize his sports bike as part of the legal process.

Senior Officer Pol elaborated, "After registering the FIR, we served him with a formal notice directing him to cooperate fully with the police investigation and to ensure his presence in court as required. Additionally, we have formally written to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) requesting the suspension of his bike riding licence due to the severity of the offence."
