Mumbai Implements Traffic Restrictions for High-Profile India-France Innovation Event
In preparation for the main event of the India-France Year of Innovation, Mumbai traffic police have announced comprehensive road restrictions across key areas of the city on February 17. The high-profile gathering will be attended by the Prime Minister of India and the President of France, necessitating enhanced security and traffic management measures to ensure a smooth and secure environment.
South Mumbai: Detailed Road Closures and Alternative Routes
From 2 pm to 9 pm, significant traffic adjustments will be in effect in South Mumbai. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg will be entirely closed to all vehicles, with the exception of emergency services, starting from Regal Junction. Motorists are advised to use the following alternative route: Regal Junction to Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, then onto Mahakavi Bhushan Road, followed by Boman Bheram Marg, to reach their intended destinations.
Additionally, P Ramchandani Marg will see closures on the stretch from North Court to Adam Street Junction, again with exemptions only for emergency vehicles. For this area, the recommended detour is: Alva Chowk to Radio Club via P Ramchandani Marg, then Haji Niyaz Azmi Road, Bhid Bhanjan Mandir, a right turn onto Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, Regal Junction, a complete turnaround, back onto Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, and finally Mahakavi Bhushan Marg to proceed further.
To facilitate traffic flow, Rambhau Salgaonkar Road, typically a one-way street from Indu Clinic Junction to Volga Chowk, will be opened for two-way traffic between 1 pm and 4 pm. Authorities have also designated several no-parking zones to prevent congestion, including Nathalal Parekh Road, Jagannath Bhosle Road, Captain Prakash Pethe Road, Rambhau Salgaonkar Road, Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, and BK Boman Behram Marg. Furthermore, taxi and BEST bus stands on Adam Street and P Ramchandani Marg will be temporarily closed during this period.
Western Suburbs: Highway Restrictions for Heavy Vehicles
In the Western Suburbs, the Western Express Highway will implement restrictions from 8 am to 9 pm. Heavy vehicles will be prohibited from using both the northbound and southbound carriageways between Vakola Flyover and Dahisar Toll Naka. This measure aims to reduce traffic volume and enhance safety for the event. Exemptions are granted for essential services such as ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, police vehicles, and government vehicles involved in VVIP security operations.
