Tragic Collision Claims Two Lives in Nedumangad
A devastating road accident late Tuesday night resulted in the deaths of a mother and her son near Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram district. The victims have been identified as 54-year-old Premakumari and her son Harikrishnan (24). The fatal collision occurred when a speeding pickup van rammed into their motorcycle.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The accident took place around 9 pm on Tuesday near Pathamkallu in Nedumangad. Premakumari, who worked as an attendant at the PMG veterinary hospital, was returning home from work with her son Harikrishnan, who was riding the bike. According to preliminary reports, a pickup van coming from the Thiruvananthapuram side at high speed crashed into their motorcycle.
The impact was so severe that both riders were thrown off the road. Harikrishnan died on the spot due to the injuries he sustained. Premakumari, critically injured, was rushed to the Nedumangad district hospital for emergency treatment. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries around 10 pm, approximately an hour after the crash.
Family and Police Investigation
The deceased were residents of Karamkonam house, located near the Kaithakuzhi Thampuran temple in Aruvikkara. Premakumari is survived by her husband, Rameshan, and another son, Jayakrishnan. The family has been plunged into grief by the sudden and tragic loss.
Local police have registered a case regarding the accident and have initiated a detailed investigation. The focus of the probe is to determine the exact cause, including verifying the reported speeding of the pickup van. Further legal proceedings will follow based on the findings.
