Mother, Son Die in Samastipur Electrocution Accident

A tragic incident occurred late Friday night in Chatra village under Badhauna panchayat in Samastipur district, where a woman and her six-year-old son lost their lives due to electrocution while sleeping at home.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Rangeela Devi (24), wife of Kanhaiya Paswan, and her son Ratan Kumar (6). According to family members, Kanhaiya had installed a stand fan in the room to cope with the intense heat.

Sequence of Events

On Friday night, Rangeela was sleeping alongside her son when the fan reportedly toppled over. SHO of Vidyapati Nagar police station Suraj Kumar stated that the fan's electrical wire likely snapped during the fall and came into contact with the metal body, making the appliance live with electric current.
