The Criminal Investigation Agency staff of the Mohali police carried out this operation under careful supervision. Senior Superintendent of Police Harmandeep Singh Hans led the effort with support from SP Investigation Saurav Jindal, SP Operations Talwinder Singh, and DSP Investigation Rajan Parminder Singh.

Acting on precise intelligence information, the police team intercepted the suspects. They received a tip about three armed youths roaming in a Tata Safari near Amaira Greens on the Kharar-Kurali road. The information suggested these individuals intended to commit a crime.

On January 12, a CIA police party positioned near village Khanpur in Kharar sprang into action. They set up a trap and apprehended all three accused near Amaira Greens Society in Kharar.

The police have identified the three arrested persons. Sachin Singh, aged about 22 years, originally hails from village Mohkam Rai in Fazilka district. • The Tata Safari vehicle used by the accused during their activities

Background and Investigation Findings

During interrogation, police discovered that all three accused studied together at Rayat and Bahra College. This educational connection formed the basis of their association.

SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans revealed crucial information about the weapons' origin. "Due to mutual rivalry, they procured these illegal weapons from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh in August 2025," Hans stated.

The police have registered a First Information Report under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at City Kharar police station. This legal action formalizes the charges against the arrested individuals.

The accused currently remain in police custody on remand. Authorities anticipate that further questioning will yield additional recoveries and disclosures. The investigation continues to uncover more details about this arms smuggling operation.
