Mohali Police Bust Robbery Gang, Recover Stolen Truck and Pickup
Mohali police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against crime. They arrested four members of an organised robbery gang. The police also recovered two stolen vehicles. These include a truck and a Mahindra pickup.
Special Drive Targets Anti-Social Elements
DSP Harsimrat Singh from Mullapur Garibdas explained the operation. He said the arrests were part of a special drive. SSP Harmandeep Hans directed this drive to crack down on anti-social elements.
SP Manpreet Singh supervised the operation. Teams led by inspector Gauravbans Singh and inspector Malkit Singh executed it. They used human intelligence and modern technical resources.
Case Details and Arrests
The case relates to a robbery on December 24 last year. A Mahindra pickup with registration HP-72-C-0133 was snatched from Sandeep Kumar. This happened on Ropar Road in Kurali. Police registered a case the next day at City Kurali police station.
During the investigation, police first arrested two suspects. They are Balwinder Singh alias Prince from Ludhiana and Mandeep Singh alias Kaka from Patiala. Police caught them near the Kurali bypass.
Their interrogation led to more arrests. Police then arrested Sarabjit Singh alias Kala from Sangrur and Ramandeep Singh alias Sammi from Barnala. This happened on January 8.
Vehicle Recovery and Legal Action
Police recovered the stolen Mahindra pickup from Churu district in Rajasthan. They also seized a truck with registration PB13BN7267. This truck was stolen from Banur.
A fresh case has been registered under the BNS. The sections include 309(4), 3(5), 317(2), and 61(2).
Ongoing Investigation and Impact
DSP Harsimrat Singh stated that further investigation is underway. Police aim to trace other gang members.
Officials called the arrests and recoveries a significant step. They believe this helps dismantle organised vehicle theft and robbery networks in the region.
