A 34-year-old man, Harjinder Singh Mann, who allegedly stabbed his former girlfriend and colleague to death and later attempted suicide at their workplace in Mohali on June 4, had been unable to come to terms with their breakup, police investigations revealed.
Emotional Volatility Led to Attack
Police stated that the accused acted out of anger. During questioning, he allegedly told investigators that he slipped into an emotionally volatile state after the relationship ended. Repeated rejection by the woman, identified as Dimple (30), is believed to have intensified his resentment, culminating in the attack in which she was allegedly stabbed over 30 times, leading to her death.
Background of Relationship
The victim and the accused had been working at a private firm in Phase 11, Mohali, for nearly three years. During this period, they developed a friendship that later turned into a relationship, according to police. The two separated some time ago, after which the accused allegedly struggled to move on. Investigators said Mann had made several attempts to revive the relationship, but these were unsuccessful.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
DSP (City-2) Harsimran Singh Bal said, “After being discharged from hospital, the accused was formally arrested and produced in court, which remanded him to judicial custody.” The investigation continues.
