Judicial activities at the Mohali court complex came to a sudden and alarming halt on Thursday afternoon. The disruption followed a chilling email warning of a bomb attack, which prompted a massive security mobilization and the complete evacuation of the premises.
Email Triggers Security Emergency
The threat was delivered directly to the official email account of the sessions judge. The message contained a claim that an attempt would be made to blow up the court complex. Upon receiving the alert, the Mohali police swiftly activated their emergency protocols to deal with the potential danger.
Chaotic Scenes as Complex is Vacated
By around 3 PM, authorities ordered the immediate evacuation of all courtrooms, offices, and the entire complex. Advocates, litigants, court staff, and visitors were asked to leave the premises without delay, leading to scenes of confusion and heightened anxiety. Police quickly secured the area, sealing all entry and exit points and placing adjoining roads under strict surveillance.
Confirming the incident, SSP (Mohali) Harmandeep Singh Hans stated, "We were informed by court authorities about the bomb threat. Bomb disposal teams were rushed, and the premises evacuated. Sniffer dog squads and detection equipment were deployed."
Intensive Search Yields No Results
The extensive search operation commenced at 2:45 PM and continued until 5 PM. The complex was cordoned off with paramilitary support. SP (City) Dilpreet Singh, who supervised the operation, reported, "Every nook and corner was checked thoroughly. No explosive or suspicious object was found."
Officials pointed out that this was not an isolated incident. Similar threats have been reported at court complexes and schools across Punjab in the past week, though none have materialized into actual discoveries of explosives. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm while assuring that security measures across vital installations remain stringent and vigilant.
