A devastating workplace accident in Thiruvananthapuram has resulted in the death of a migrant worker from West Bengal. The incident occurred on Thursday evening near Akkulam, where marble slabs being unloaded from a container lorry toppled onto workers.

The deceased has been identified as Abhijit Burman, aged 32. According to reports, the tragedy unfolded as workers were unloading marble slabs from a container vehicle parked along the roadside. During this process, a stack of slabs suddenly lost balance and collapsed onto the workers.
Burman sustained critical injuries in the mishap and was immediately rushed to the medical college hospital. Despite receiving urgent medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Two other workers were injured in the same accident and were admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Their condition is currently reported to be stable, though they remain under medical supervision.
The body of Abhijit Burman has been shifted to the MCH mortuary. It will be handed over to his relatives after the completion of autopsy procedures.
