A tragic road accident on the Jamnagar-Rajkot highway claimed the life of a 38-year-old agricultural labourer and left his young son and a friend injured on Friday. The victim, identified as Manu Dawar, was a migrant worker from Madhya Pradesh.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The incident occurred near Dhuvav village. According to the police complaint filed by Dawar's wife, Rajbai alias Radha (38), her husband was travelling to work in the fields with their 5-year-old son. The child was riding pillion with Dawar on a motorcycle driven by a friend.

A speeding Fortuner SUV struck the motorcycle, leading to the fatal accident. While Dawar succumbed to his injuries, his son and the friend riding the motorcycle sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

The Panch A Division police station in Jamnagar district has registered a case against the SUV driver. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 106 (1) and 281 and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police sources confirmed that the driver was detained and his statement recorded. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver remained at the scene after the accident and assisted in taking the injured to the hospital.

Investigations revealed that Manu Dawar hailed from Alirajpur district in Madhya Pradesh. He had moved with his family for work and was employed at a farm in Khijadiya village. The accident highlights the perils faced by migrant labourers and the ongoing issue of road safety on highways.
