The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Mehsana police has successfully cracked a Rs 64 lakh robbery case and arrested two accused who had carried out the heist. The victim was lured into a trap with promises of overseas employment.
Arrests and Recoveries
Police arrested Vishansinh Rathod, a resident of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and recovered Rs 14 lakh along with the car used in the crime. During interrogation, Rathod revealed the involvement of Bhavesh Valand from Tarsali, Vadodara. Valand was subsequently arrested, and Rs 10 lakh was recovered from him. In total, Rs 24 lakh has been recovered so far.
Modus Operandi
According to police, the accused cheated the complainant by promising overseas jobs in Australia for his son and associate Mukesh Vanzara. They gained the victims' trust through repeated phone conversations. The accused then arranged flight tickets from Ahmedabad to Delhi and instructed the victims to bring Rs 64 lakh as processing fees for the job arrangement.
On April 19, when the victims arrived at Radhe Guest House in Delhi, two men threatened them with a pistol and fled with the cash. Both accused have prior cases of cheating registered against them.
Investigation Details
A robbery complaint was filed at Vasai police station on April 20. The LCB team launched an investigation using technical surveillance and CCTV footage. Investigators traced a Swift Dzire without a number plate that was seen near the crime scene, which later led to the identification of the accused.
Police stated that several other accused from Rajasthan, Anand, and Malaysia remain absconding. Further investigations are ongoing to apprehend them.
