The raid was set into motion after Food Inspector Rekha filed a formal complaint, detailing that she had received specific information regarding unknown individuals illegally stocking petrol and diesel in plastic cans. The illicit storage was reportedly located in a bushy area behind Shakti Complex, near the BPCL petrol and diesel plant road in Baikampady. Acting promptly on this intelligence, the officials ensured proper protocol by informing the deputy director of the Food and Civil Supplies department before launching the operation.
Details of the Seized Contraband
During the meticulous inspection of the site, authorities uncovered a concerning array of fuel containers and related materials. The diesel was found stored in multiple plastic cans, including two 30-litre cans, eleven 20-litre cans, one 25-litre can, and one 10-litre can. Similarly, the petrol was discovered in nine 20-litre cans and two 25-litre cans. In addition to the fuel, several empty plastic cans of various sizes were seized, along with a long saffron-coloured pipe, a funnel, and a PVC pipe, all suspected to be used in the illegal storage and distribution activities.
