Mangaluru Police Crack Major Theft Case, Recover Valuables Worth Rs 27 Lakh
In a significant breakthrough, the Bajpe police in Mangaluru have successfully arrested two accused individuals involved in a major theft at Kenjaru Jokatte. The police have recovered gold ornaments, cash, and a scooter with a total value of nearly Rs 27 lakh, bringing closure to a case that had remained unsolved for months.
Details of the Theft Incident
The theft occurred on the night of September 23 last year, when Mohammed Sharif had left his house in Kenjaru Jokatte to attend a relative's mehendi ceremony in Kalavaru. Taking advantage of his absence, the perpetrators broke into his home and made off with valuable items. The stolen property included gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 23 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 1.3 lakh, making it a high-value crime that shocked the local community.
A formal case was registered at the Bajpe police station under sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), highlighting the seriousness of the offense. The investigation was launched immediately, with police officials working diligently to trace the culprits and recover the stolen goods.
Police Investigation and Breakthrough
City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy provided details on the investigation during a press conference held on Saturday. He revealed that the Bajpe police gathered crucial information indicating that the primary accused, identified as Abdul Nasar alias Nasir alias Nachi, a 31-year-old resident originally from near Kalavaru, Bala Village, and currently living in a rented house in Bajpe, was responsible for the theft. It was discovered that Nasir had fled abroad after committing the crime, complicating the investigation.
Based on this intelligence, the police issued a look-out circular (LOC) to track Nasir's movements. The LOC proved instrumental when Nasir was eventually traced and apprehended. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the theft and revealed that he had an accomplice: Mayyaddi Imran of Kalavaru, who happened to be a relative of the complainant, Mohammed Sharif. This revelation added a shocking twist to the case, as it involved an insider with personal connections to the victim.
Recovery of Stolen Property and Legal Proceedings
From the possession of the arrested accused, the police successfully recovered a substantial amount of stolen property. This included gold ornaments weighing 222 grams, valued at approximately Rs 27 lakh, along with Rs 20,000 in cash and a scooter worth around Rs 50,000. The recovery of these items not only provided justice to the victim but also demonstrated the effectiveness of the police's investigative efforts.
Following their arrest, both accused individuals were produced before the jurisdictional court. The court remanded them to judicial custody, ensuring they will face legal proceedings for their alleged crimes. The police have emphasized that this case serves as a warning to criminals and highlights their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
This successful resolution underscores the importance of thorough police work and community cooperation in solving complex crimes. The Bajpe police's use of modern investigative techniques, such as the look-out circular, played a key role in bringing the perpetrators to justice and recovering the stolen valuables, providing relief to the affected family and reinforcing public trust in the law enforcement system.
