In a significant breakthrough, Mandya district police have successfully cracked a case of chain snatching and house burglary, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of stolen property valued at a staggering Rs 32 lakh.
The Arrests and Recovery
Superintendent of Police Shobharani identified the accused as Saddam Hussein (32) from Shantinagar, Mysuru, and Syed Ayub (32) from Rajiv Nagar, Mysuru. Following their apprehension, the police team recovered a substantial haul of stolen goods. This included 253 grams of gold jewellery, 178 grams of silver articles, and two motorcycles used in the crimes.
How the Case Unfolded
The investigation was triggered by a chain-snatching incident reported on June 28 last year. The victim, Saritha, a resident of Malavalli taluk, was walking near Chikkegowdanadoddi village around 6:15 PM when a motorcyclist approached from the Kirugavalu Santhemala side. The assailant snatched her two-strand gold mangalsutra and fled the scene. Based on her complaint, a formal case was registered at the Kirugavalu police station.
Coordinated Police Effort Leads to Success
A special investigation team (SIT) was formed under the guidance of Malavalli DSP Yashwanth Kumar to track down the culprits. The team was led by Halaguru circle inspector Sridhar BS and included Kirugavalu PSI Ravikumar D along with personnel Riyaz Pasha, Prabhuswamy, Siddaraju, Srinivas, Madhukiran, Shivakumar NC, Rafiq Nadaf, and Nagesh.
Critical technical and operational support was provided by Ravikiran and Lokesh from the Mandya CDR wing, Basavaraju B from the Mandya CEN police station, and drivers Mahadevaswamy and Nagaraju.
Through sustained surveillance and coordinated efforts, the police meticulously traced the suspects. SP Shobharani explained that this diligent work culminated in the arrest of the accused. The SP has commended the entire team for their dedicated efforts in solving the case and recovering the high-value stolen property.
