A 53-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Mumbai's Bhandup area on Thursday, with police citing previous enmity as the likely motive. The incident has led to a murder case being registered against the accused, identified as Sadashiv Kamble, a local resident.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Balkrishna Nivalekar, a resident of Ramabai Nagar in Bhandup. His son, Ajay Nivalekar, 31, who lives separately in Rabale, Navi Mumbai, filed a complaint with the Bhandup police. Ajay stated that he lived apart from his father due to space constraints and his father's alleged alcohol addiction.
Sequence of Events
On Thursday morning, Ajay spoke to his father over the phone. Around 12:15 pm, he received a call from his friend Niranjan Modale, informing him that his father had been stabbed by Sadashiv Kamble and was lying injured in his room. Ajay immediately rushed to Ramabai Nagar with his wife. Upon arrival, friends Niranjan Modale, Nikhil Jadhav, and Tanmay Rane told him that Kamble, a resident of Siddharth Chawl in the same locality, had attacked his father.
When Ajay entered the room, he found his father lying in a pool of blood with a knife wound to the neck. Police personnel at the scene quickly transported the victim to Agarwal Hospital in Mulund, where doctors declared him dead before admission.
Police Investigation
Based on the complaint, the Bhandup police registered a murder case against Sadashiv Kamble. Police said the prima facie motive behind the attack was previous enmity, but further details are yet to be ascertained. A search for the accused is underway, and the investigation is ongoing.
