Amritsar: A man was allegedly shot dead by unidentified assailants here late Friday night. The attackers reportedly fired seven or eight rounds, with at least four bullets hitting Maninder Singh alias Manna in the back.
Maninder collapsed on the spot and was later declared dead. He was married and is survived by his wife and a five-month-old daughter.
A friend of Maninder Singh told mediapersons that they closed their shop around 9:50 pm on Friday. About five minutes later, some youths allegedly began following them. The four friends were returning home through different routes, which the attackers are believed to have exploited.
The police are examining the footage from the CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene. Images of three suspects have reportedly been captured, although their identities have not yet been established, said police sources.
