The tragic event occurred between 4 and 5 pm near Kamalapuri village on the Udina-Godhan road, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Godan police station. The girl, aged around 19, was returning from a temple with her friends when she was intercepted by the man, identified as Manvendra Yadav, a resident of Godan.
In a brazen act, Yadav allegedly fired at the young woman using a country-made pistol. The girl sustained a critical bullet injury to her chest. Following the attack, Yadav then shot himself with the same weapon. He died on the spot, while the injured victim was rushed for medical aid.

Datia Superintendent of Police (SP) Suraj Verma provided details of the case to the media. The weapon used in the crime, a country-made pistol, was recovered from the scene by the police team. The injured girl was initially taken to the Datia district hospital but due to the severity of her wounds, she was referred to a medical facility in Gwalior for advanced treatment.
"The girl is around 19 years old and she has been referred to Gwalior for treatment. As of now, her condition is stable," stated SP Suraj Verma.
