Man, Married Woman Found Hanging from Tree in Gandhinagar

Ahmedabad: A man and a married woman were found hanging from a mango tree on the outskirts of Chiloda village in Gandhinagar on Friday morning. Police have initiated an investigation to determine whether the deaths were a case of suicide or something more sinister.

Discovery of the Bodies

According to officials of Chiloda police station, the incident came to light around 8:30 am when local residents spotted two bodies hanging from a tree near a government borewell and alerted authorities. A police team rushed to the spot and began a preliminary inquiry.

Details of the Deceased

The deceased, believed to be in their 40s, were found hanging from the same tree with a saree. Police said the duo were known to each other and were allegedly in a relationship. The woman was married, and her husband reportedly works as a daily-wage labourer. She has at least one married daughter, police said. The man, on the other hand, is reportedly divorced.

Villagers said they saw the bodies hanging from the tree while heading towards nearby fields. Police cordoned off the spot and initiated further procedures.

Investigation Underway

Initial findings suggested the possibility of suicide linked to a personal relationship, though officials have not ruled out other angles. A forensic team was called in to examine the scene, and statements of family members and locals were being recorded.

"The reason behind the deaths will be clear only after the post-mortem report and a detailed investigation," a police official said.
